ATV ordinance would relax rules in Buchanan County

Posted: Updated:
BUCHANAN COUNTY (KWWL) -

One eastern Iowa county could give ATV riders more room to roam.

Buchanan County is considering an ordinance that would allow ATVs on gravel roads.

Right now, riders are restricted unless they're on the road for something farm related.

This new ordinance would come with specific guidelines. For example, you'd have to be at least 16 years old with a valid driver's license.

Anyone younger than 18 would also have to pass a DNR safety course.

The Buchanan County Board of Supervisors will hold a public hearing on the proposal before taking a vote.
