Cyclone Football opens practice

Posted: Updated:

The Iowa State Cyclones also opening practice Monday, with star recruit Allen Lazard the four star receiver from Urbandale running with the third team offense.

Cyclone head coach Paul Rhoads believes Lazard has a chance to play right away.

And after saying last spring that Lazard would not be allowed to talk the media---Rhoads has either forgotten--or lifted the ban.

Rhoads said, "Today was day one of him getting out there and teaching for him --he's got to learn the offense and then get out there and catch it and be productive at this rate of speed."

Lazard says, "A lot faster--especially coming from Urbandale and only having 45 guys on the team so everyone is tired --but here we've got depth so you're running or you're not going to play."

The Cyclones host 3-time FCS Champion North Dakota State to start the season on August 30th.
