UPDATE: 9-year-old twins killed in ATV crash in Linn County

LINN COUNTY (KWWL) - Nine-year-old twin brothers Colton Wayne Novak and Clayton Alan Novak were killed when the ATV they were driving crashed into a creek Monday afternoon in rural Linn County, according to the Linn County Sheriff's Office.

The accident remains under investigation by the Linn County Sheriff's Office.

Two boys have died of their injuries after the ATV they were riding in apparently rolled into a creek on private property in rural Linn County.

No names, ages or other identifying information has been released except that the two boys were "pre-teens," according to Linn County Sheriff Brian Gardner.

Deputies responded to a report of an ATV that had crashed into a pasture creek and injured two boys at around 12:14 p.m. Monday, according to a release from the sheriff's office.

Both boys were transported to St. Luke's Hospital by medical helicopter, and both were pronounced dead shortly after arriving there, according to the release.

Their names are being withheld pending family notification, according to the release.

The case is still under investigation by the Linn County Sheriff's Office. Assisting were Linn County Sheriff's Rescue, Mount Vernon Police, Mount Vernon Fire, Lisbon/Mount Vernon Ambulance, Lifeguard Air Ambulance and Air Care Air Ambulance.

Two preteen boys are in the hospital with life-threatening injuries after the all-terrain vehicle they were riding in rolled into a creek.

The 911 call came in around 12:15 p.m. Monday, according to Linn County Sheriff Brian Gardner.

Gardner said the creek was on private property near a home off Hwy. 30 east of Palisades Kepler State Park.

Gardner only said the two victims were preteen boys, and wouldn't say why they were on the property or if they lived or worked there.

The two were taken to St. Luke's Hospital.
