TAMA COUNTY (KWWL) -

One person is dead and two others are hurt after a head-on collision in Tama County Saturday.

The Iowa State Patrol says 56-year-old Debra Sells of Dysart died when a pickup truck carrying a horse trailer crossed the center line and hit her pickup truck head-on.

It happened along Highway 8 about 3 miles east of Traer just after 2 p.m. Saturday.

Troopers say 55-year-old Craig Stevens of Aredale and 46-year-old Nancy Stevens of Aredale were taken to a Waterloo hospital for treatment.  They say Craig Stevens was driving the pickup truck carrying the horse trailer.

Black smoke could be seen rising from the scene of the crash.

Troopers say the crash remains under investigation.
