Boy Scout leaders see video of controversial border search

DES MOINES (KWWL) -

Federal investigators showed Boy Scout leaders surveillance video of a border security search of one central Iowa troop. The search raised red flags because one scout master says a border patrol officer pointed a gun at one of the scouts heads.

The alleged incident happened on July 7 during a camping trip to Alaska and Canada. Scout master Jim Fox told KCCI, one of the boys took a photo of a border patrol agent, an act which is illegal. Agents immediately confiscated his camera. That's when Fox says, an agent put a gun to a boys head.

Scout executive Bob Hopper watched the surveillance video and doesn't believe that's what happened. Hopper says he not only did not see a gun, but he “did not see scouts react to a gun being present."

Fox stands by his previous statements, adding that the video is poor quality and inconclusive.

The Office of Inspector General (OIG) continues to investigate.
