Area school districts apply for No Child Left Behind waiver

Posted: Updated:
WATERLOO (KWWL) -

Waterloo, Dubuque, Cedar Rapids and Iowa City schools all want to be left out of the federal No Child Left Behind Act.

All four districts filed waivers with the federal government for permission to be exempt from the federal law.

If waivers are approved, the districts would have more freedom when spending money and the districts wouldn't be required to allow students to transfer out of schools deemed in need of assistance.
