Cedar Rapids man pleads guilty to heroin overdose death

CEDAR RAPIDS (KWWL) - A man has pleaded guilty after authorities say he distributed heroin, which later led to a person's death.

Austin Martens, 24, of Cedar Rapids was convicted of distribution of heroin by a federal court.

In a plea agreement, Martens said he distributed heroin to a person in March of 2013. That person died from an overdose.

Martens has not yet been sentenced and currently remain is custody of the United States Marshal.

Martens faces a maximum sentence of 20 years in prison and various fines.
