Strange sounds coming from Kinnick? No worries, officials say

Posted: Updated:
IOWA CITY (KWWL) -

If you hear some strange sounds coming from Kinnick Stadium this week, officials say, don't worry.

The University of Iowa will begin the first phase of testing the upgraded audio system on July 30. Occasional low-level audio and white noise may be heard near the stadium until Saturday, August 2.

The second phase of testing is scheduled to begin on August 4 and continue through August 9. This phase will verify that the system is working as designed, and will be louder.

The final testing will occur in a 45 minute window on Saturday, August 9, sometime between 10 a.m. and 1 p.m. It will be about as loud as a game day.

All testing will be done by 1 p.m. on August 9. For more information, contact U of I Facilities Management at 319-335-5500.
