UNI Dome repairs still 2-years away

Posted: Updated:

University of Northern Iowa Athletic Director, Troy Dannen, knows the UNI Dome needs improvements, but those improvements are still a couple of years away.

Dannen told The Des Moines Register the Dome renovations, when they are finalized, will be part of a broader campaign and in the areas of a "low eight-figure project."

The UNI Dome opened in 1976 with very few renovations since that time.

Dannen says the Dome needs wider concourse areas, premium seating and larger restrooms.

$1.2 million is being spent on a scoreboard upgrade in the Dome and in the neighboring McCleod Center.

Repairs to the UNI Dome would not likely change the current seating capacity of 16,300.
