Fentanyl distribution sends Iowa woman to prison

Posted: Updated:

Iowan Macey Lynn Stills is headed to prison on a fentanyl distribution conviction, associated with a fatal drug overdose last year.

Federal Chief District Court Judge, James Gritzner, sentenced the 23-year old West Des Moines woman to 21-months, following her guilty plea to distribution of fentanyl, a drug commonly associated with pain relief.

United States Attorney, Nicholas Klinefeldt, says Stills stole fentanyl patches from her employer in 2013.

She sold four of them to an individual for $160.00 on January 10. That individual died later that day from a fentanyl overdose.

Stills pleaded guilty to distribution of fentanyl on March 24 of this year.

In addition to the prison term, Chief Judge Gritzner ordered Stills to serve a term of three years supervision, following her release from prison.
