CLAYTON COUNTY (KWWL) -

An Elkport man was arrested Saturday after a hit-and-run accident in Clayton County.

Chief Deputy Michael Aschinger says deputies were called to the intersection of Littleport and Fantail Roads at around 4:51 p.m. Saturday for a report of a hit-and-run accident involving a truck and a bicycle.

Family members of the victim were able to photograph the license plate of the truck, which led deputies to 46-year-old Alan Steger of Elkport.

Aschinger says Steger admitted to hitting the cyclist and was arrested.

After further investigation, Steger was charged with first-offense operating while intoxicated and personal injury by vehicle.

Aschinger tells KWWL that while RAGBRAI went through Clayton County on Saturday, this incident was not related. He says it was a family out riding bicycles.

The victim is expected to recover.
