Krebill named Marion Fire Chief

Posted: Updated:
MARION (KWWL) - Deb Krebill, a 23-year veteran of the Marion Fire Department, has been named the new fire chief.

Krebill, who began with the department in 1991, has served as firefighter/paramedic, shift captain, captain/deputy fire marshal, and district chief/fire marshal before being named deputy chief in 2012. She was named interim chief when Terry Jackson retired this past spring.

“Chief Krebill has been with Marion Fire Department for more than 20 years and has served in numerous leadership capacities,” City Manager Lon Pluckhahn said in a written statement. “Deb has dedicated her life to the fire service and has a strong record of community involvement, she will continue to serve the city well in this role."

Krebill got her bachelor’s degree from Western Illinois University. She completed the four-year Executive Fire Officer Program through the National Fire Academy in 2009.

"It is a privilege for me to be able to serve the city of Marion as its next fire chief. I am fully aware of the responsibilities I am accepting with this position and confident our department will meet the challenges and needs of our community as it continues to grow,” Krebill said in a written statement. “I am fortunate to have highly skilled firefighters, a dedicated administrative staff, and the support of City staff to assist me in carrying out the mission of the Marion Fire Department."
