DUBUQUE COUNTY (KWWL) -

A Dubuque County railroad bridge is considered a total loss after a fire late Monday morning.

The Dubuque County Sheriff's Office says deputies were called to the bridge at mile marker 33.1, about two miles south of Massey Station, at around 11:55 a.m. Monday.

Captain Dale Snyder says workers from a Canadian Pacific Railroad train saw the fire and called it in.

Snyder says welders were working on the bridge about 30 minutes before the fire was discovered.

The bridge is considered a total loss.
