Year-long detour coming to Edgewood Road on Monday

Posted: Updated:
CEDAR RAPIDS (KWWL) -

A year-long detour will begin on Edgewood Road in Cedar Rapids on Monday as a part of the Highway 100 project.

The Iowa Department of Transportation says traffic on Edgewood Road, between Blairs Ferry Road Northeast and 42nd Street, will be detoured.

During the detour, one lane of Edgewood Road will be open in each direction over the future Highway 100. While routes will change throughout the duration of the project, the ramp from northbound Edgewood Road to eastbound Highway 100 is expected to remain open.

If you are headed south on Edgewood Road and want to get to eastbound Highway 100, you will be routed onto the current westbound exit ramp from Highway 100 to Edgewood Road. Concrete rails will be place on the ramp to create a two-way road.

The speed limit in the area of the detour will be reduced to 25 mph. Drivers are asked to find alternate routes.
