United Way seeking school supply donations for kids in need

The United Way of Dubuque Area Tri-States will be accepting donations of school supplies for kids in need, during an upcoming drive spanning two separate weekends.

The United Way and Wal-Mart are partnering on a national effort called "Fill-the-Bus," which will take place Friday, Saturday and Sunday, July 25-27 and the Friday, Saturday and Sunday of Aug. 8-10.

The drive will take place on each of those days from 10 a.m. to 7 p.m. at the Wal-Mart in Dubuque located at 4200 Dodge Street.

People are encouraged to buy school supplies for kids in the tri-state area. Supplies will be donated to the Apples for Students program through St. Mark Youth Enrichment in Dubuque.

People interested in volunteering to help with this local "Fill-the-Bus" event can call the United Way of Dubuque Area Tri-States office at 563-588-1415.
