Five people are in jail after a car chase

WATERLOO (KWWL) - Five people were arrested after a car chase that ended in a crash in Solon.

According to the Linn County Police, on July 23, a deputy attempted to stop a vehicle in Ely that matched the description of a vehicle involved in shots fired incident in Cedar Rapids. The driver of the vehicle refused to stop and a car chase began. Officers from the Johnson County Sheriff’s Office, Mt. Vernon PD, Lisbon PD, North Liberty PD, Iowa City PD, and Iowa State Patrol were involved in the vehicle chase that ended when the driver crashed in Solon. Five occupants of the vehicle took off on foot, and was later arrested by police officers.

The five people in the car were:
20 yr. old Kaven Willie Parks of Cedar Rapids
23 yr. old Aaron Michael Scott of Cedar Rapids
18 yr. old Marcus Dejohn Wallace of Cedar Rapids
27 yr. old Marcus Lamont Long of Cedar Rapids, and a 15 yr. old male juvenile.

The driver, Kaven Parks, was charged with Felony Attempt to Elude, as well as other traffic offenses. All five were charged with Interference with Officials Acts with Injury on a Peace Officer.

The incident remains under investigation by the Linn County Sheriff’s Office and Cedar Rapids Police.
