UPDATE: Decorah drowning victim identified

DECORAH (KWWL) -

A 25-year-old man from Decorah has drowned in the Upper Iowa River.

Police say they pulled Matthew Lundt's body out of the river near Dunnings Spring Park Wednesday night.

Officers were first called around 8:15 p.m. The caller told police her friend was struggling in the river.

Emergency crews then focused their search between the College Drive bridge and the 5th Street bridge.

Lundt's body was found at about 10:35 p.m.

One person is missing, as rescuers search the waters of the Upper Iowa River within the Decorah City limits.

The Decorah Police Department confirms a search for a missing person is underway involving the Decorah Police Department, the Decorah Fire Department and the Winneshiek County Sheriff's Office.

The 911 emergency call came into Decorah authorities at around 8:15 p.m. Wednesday.

A Decorah Police officer told KWWL he didn't know if searchers were looking for a man or woman, and other details about what happened were not immediately available.

The search comes on the eve of the annual city-wide Decorah Nordic Fest celebration, which runs through the upcoming weekend.
