3A Substate Baseball, Waverly-Shell Rock beats West Delaware

WATERLOO (KWWL) -

In a battle of two 3A baseball powerhouses, top ranked Waverly-Shell Rock beat West Delaware 2-0 to earn a trip to the state baseball tournament in Des Moines. The Go-Hawks broke a scoreless tie in the fifth inning---courtesy runner Dalton Graven scored on a steal and a throwing error to make it 1-0. Waverly-Shell Rock's Sean Westendorf threw a complete game 3 hit shut out with seven strike outs to beat West Delaware's Jake Voss who entered the game with a 0.26 ERA. The Go-Hawks will play Solon Tuesday at noon in the state tournament.
