CR Jefferson vs SE Polk/Class 5A Quarterfinal
Cedar Rapids Jefferson, in their 21st appearance had some trouble against Southeast Polk. There was no score in the 6th when the Rams Markee Brown knocked a base hit up the middle,  Southeast Polk lead 1-0.
Southeast Polk would go on to finish the shutout, knocking out Jefferson 2–0.
 
Kee High vs. Lynville-Sully/Class 1A Quarterfinal
 In Class 1-A, unranked Kee High – at state or just the second time in school history – Kee Hawks got thrown right in to the fire against number 2 Lynnville-Sully. 
But the Kee Hawks didn't blink and struck a big blow in the 4th.  Ellie Heiderscheit with a shot to the wall scores a pair of runs on a triple. Heiderscheit would then score on an overthrow Kee High led 3-0.
And it was more than they needed Kee High pulls the upset 4, nothing.

Ellie: "I know that we're a solid team for sure, and I knew this was going to be a hard game coming, but we worked our butts off and it was a great feeling to see us all come together."

AGWSR vs. Bellevue-Marquette/Class 1A Quarterfinal
Keehawks would get the winner of AGWSR and Bellevue Marquette.
 AGWSR struck first in this one,  Ashley Sicard with a deep shot to right center that just misses being a homer.  Olivia Ingledue scores on the sac fly, 1, nothing Cougars.
The Cougars move on 2-0 and they look to improve on last season.

Ashley: "We got 3rd last year, ever in our school history, and now we're trying to bring it above and beyond, and probably get to 1st or 2nd."

Highland vs. St. Ansgar/Class 2A Quarterfinal
In class 2A – top ranked Highland got it done against Saint Ansgar. Highland led 3-0 in the 3rd, Bailey Walsh knocked a base hit up the middle scoring Courtnee Hahn. The Huskies rolled in to the semis winning 5-0.
Cheyann Adamson/Highland Sophomore
Cheyann: "It just feels awesome knowing that it's our first appearance in the state tournament since 2008, and we're just keeping the tradition going."

    Iowa Conference Coaches tabbed the Dubuque Spartans as the preseason favorite to win the conference race. The Spartans received four of the nine first place votes in the poll.

    Just hours after landing in Taipei the Iowa baseball team got right down to business, posting a 10-5 win over the Czech National Team in an exhibition contest Thursday afternoon. The Hawkeyes, representing team USA at the World University Games, got a pair of 3-run home runs out of Robert Neustrom to clinch the victory.

    Missouri Valley Tournament extends Scottrade Center agreement

    The Missouri Valley Conference exercised an option to keep the men's basketball tournament in Saint Louis through at least 2020. The previous agreement ended in 2018 with a two year to remain at the Scottrade Center. The tournament, known as Arch Madness, will conduct it's 30th straight tournament in Saint Louis in 2020.
