4H clubs push hunger awareness at fair

Posted: Updated:
WATERLOO (KWWL) -

Local 4-H clubs are stepping up support for the Northeast Iowa Food Bank at the Black Hawk County Fair.

The clubs will facilitate a canned food drive, as well as display boards that tell the story of Iowa hunger.

Members of the Black Hawk county chapters are also raising chickens for the Food Bank. They hope to deliver 500 pounds of fresh meat.

“We appreciate the partnership with 4-H and the fair for not only providing awareness, but providing action to make a difference,” said Barbara Prather, Executive Director of the Northeast Iowa Food Bank.

The fair runs July 22-26 at the National Cattle Congress in Waterloo.
