Taste of Dubuque gears up for 19th year

Posted: Updated:

The Taste of Dubuque is set for Thursday, Aug. 7, from 3 p.m. to 11 p.m. on the grounds of the National Mississippi River Museum and Aquarium in the Port of Dubuque.

Many Dubuque restaurants will be vendors at the event, each selling sample-sized, low-cost, "just-a-taste" portions of their best dishes, in addition to full-sized portions.

Admission to Taste of Dubuque is free, but the Dubuque County Historical Society will be accepting donations at the entrance gate.

All proceeds will benefit the National Mississippi River Museum and Aquarium, Mathias Ham House Historic Site, Old Jail Museum and the National Rivers Hall of Fame. All of these are properties operated and maintained by the Dubuque County Historical Society.

Entertainment at Taste of Dubuque will include four live bands throughout the night on two different stages. There will also be a Family Fun Zone area from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m., with an inflatable playground for kids of all ages.

People can buy beverage tickets and Family Fun Zone bracelets in advance at the Museum and Aquarium box office, starting Saturday.

Event parking will be available in the Port of Dubuque public parking ramp. Visitors may also park in the downtown ramps and take the free City of Dubuque Trolley to and from the event location until 6 p.m.
