Mt. Vernon man injured in Highway 30 crash Monday

LINN COUNTY (KWWL) -

A Mt. Vernon man was taken to the hospital after his vehicle rear-ended another vehicle on Highway 30 on Monday.

According to the Linn County Sheriff, the crash happened on the eastbound lane of Hwy. 30, just east of Knapp Road.

Benjamin L. Stuckey, 22, of Pella was in the fast lane traveling east bound on Hwy. 30 and was slowing to turn left when he was struck from the rear.

The driver of the striking vehicle was Blake P. Covington, 35, of Mount Vernon.

Covington was transported to Mercy Hospital in Cedar Rapids for non-life threatening injuries, according to deputies. Stuckey was not injured in the crash.

There were no passengers in either vehicle and both drivers were wearing their seatbelts at the time of the accident.

The accident remains under investigation by the Linn County Sheriff’s Office.
