UPDATE: 4 arrested, 2 injured in Cedar Rapids shootings

Four people were arrested after three reports of shootings and shots-fired in Cedar Rapids on Sunday, though police haven't yet said if any of them are directly involved in the shooting.

Two people were arrested in connection with the first shooting Sunday afternoon.

Alvionta Turner, 24, was charged with carrying weapons. Fabion Taylor, 26, was charged with providing false identification information and an outstanding warrant for a failure to appear on a controlled substance charge.

Cedar Rapids Police say Turner and Taylor were found inside a vehicle believed to be involved in the shooting that happened at 4:51 p.m. Sunday at 16th Street and Washington Avenue.

No one was arrested in the second shooting, which happened about 7:25 p.m. near 4th Avenue and 18th Street SE. In that incident, a male in his 20s was shot in the leg. Police are continuing to investigate that shooting.

In the third shooting, which involved a person who sustained a "graze wound" and that happened at 10:05 p.m. at 2105 North Towne Court NE, police arrested two residents on unrelated charges but said those two were not believed to be involved in the shooting.

Police continue to investigate.



One person was injured in a late night shooting in Cedar Rapids.

Police say they were called to 2105 North Towne Ct NE for reports of a shooting a little after 10 p.m. Sunday.

That person is expected to survive.

It was the third reported shots-fired incident in Cedar Rapids Sunday evening.

Police say they are investigating all three cases.



One person is in the hospital and four people are in custody following two separate gun related incidents in Cedar Rapids on Sunday.

Police were first called to the 300 block of 16th Street SE just before 5 p.m.

Upon arrival, police found no one injured, but did take four people into custody as the incident is under investigation. As of 9 p.m. no charges were filed.

The second incident happened near the intersection of 4th Avenue and 18th Street SE.

When officers arrived on scene around 7:30 p.m., they found one man shot in the leg. He was taken to the hospital by paramedics. No one was arrested in that incident.

Both incidents remain under investigation. Police say they do not believe the two incidents are related.
