WAUKON (KWWL) -

The conflicts between Russia and Ukraine hit close to home for the Ewing family in Waukon.

Nataliya Ewing is originally from Ukraine.

She met her husband, Scott, who is originally from Waukon, while he was working in the agriculture industry in Ukraine.

The two married and moved to Iowa when their son was four years old.

The family had plans to travel to Ukraine last month but canceled the trip because they didn't feel safe.

Now they follow what's happening in their home country on the TV and internet.

"I want to know everything. It's in my head 24/7," said Nataliya who has two sisters, a brother and a father who still live in Ukraine.

"It's hard. It's hard. I don't know how to explain. I'm sitting on the internet looking at the news... just everyday I worry about them," she added.
