Johnson County Sheriff lifts river boating ban

Posted: Updated:
JOHNSON COUNTY (KWWL) -

The Johnson County sheriff has lifted the boating ban on the Iowa River that's been in effect because of flooding since July 2.

The US Army Corps of Engineers reduced outflow at the Coralville Lake Reservoir from 17,100 cubic feet per second to 13,500 CFS Thursday morning.  This will allow downstream floodwaters to begin receding.

The ban is lifted on the Iowa River and all creeks and streams and flooded areas south of or below the dam at the Coralville Reservoir.
