NEW HAMPTON (KWWL) -

A New Hampton man led deputies on a brief high-speed chase Tuesday evening for several miles along county roads.

Garett Gary Tolliver, 21, of New Hampton, was arrested and charged with the following:

*Eluding a law enforcement vehicle
*Second-offense operating while intoxicated
*Driving while license revoked
*Reckless driving
*Failure to maintain control
*Speeding

A Fayette County Sheriff's deputy attempted to stop Tolliver's vehicle at around 7:09 p.m. Tuesday for an excessive speed violation on County Road V-68 just south of Waucoma.

Deputies say Tolliver was driving more than 100 miles per hour.

Instead of stopping immediately, Tolliver turned east onto 275th Street and attempted to elude deputies for several miles before stopping, according to officials.

Tolliver was transported to the Fayette County Jail to await his initial appearance.
