Hawkeyes Jok arrested and suspended indefinitely

IOWA CITY (KWWL) -

Iowa basketball player Peter Jok was arrested Monday night and charged with driving his moped on a revoked license.

This is the second moped-related arrest in three months for Jok, who will be a sophomore for the Hawkeyes this fall. Following Jok's arrest Iowa Head coach Fran McCaffery released this statement:

"In light of last night’s moped incident, I’have decided to suspend Peter Jok indefinitely from all University of Iowa basketball related activities. We support Peter, but we’re not happy with his recent pattern of behavior. In the interim, Peter will continue to attend summer school classes, participate in community service projects, and take time to work on things internally, as outlined in accordance with the student-athlete Code of Conduct. We will monitor his progress and go from there.”

This is Peter Jok's second arrest in the past three months. Jok was charged with drunken driving on his moped in April and his license was revoked. Online court record show he pleaded guilty May 2 and completed a weekend drunken driving program. Police arrested Jok again Monday night after initially stopping him for improper rear lights and lack of a safety flag.

The 6-foot-6 shooting guard averaged 4.4 points last season.
