Cedar Rapids sets dates for Urban Deer Hunt

CEDAR RAPIDS (KWWL) -

The City of Cedar Rapids has set the 2014-2015 Urban Deer Hunt for Sept. 13 through Jan. 10, 2015.

The Urban Deer Hunt allows hunters, who are granted a permit, the opportunity to bow-hunt deer within Cedar Rapids city limits.

To receive a permit, hunters must complete the following -

- Attendance at an eight-hour Iowa Bow Hunter’s Safety Course (one-time only)
- Urban Deer Management application available at Gander Mountain, Palo Outdoors, Affinity Archery, or on the City’s website
- Complete an annual proficiency certification test at Palo Outdoors, 1204 1st Street, Palo
- Mandatory attendance at the Urban Deer Hunt Rules and Regulations Class (only one class required) at Palo Outdoors, 1204 1st Street, Palo

Orientation session dates are -

- Wednesday, Aug. 13 – 6-7:30 p.m. – Palo Outdoors
- Wednesday, Aug. 27 – 6-7:30 p.m. – Palo Outdoors
- Wednesday, Sept. 3 – 6-7:30 p.m. – Palo Outdoors
- Saturday, Sept. 6 – 10-11:30 a.m. – Palo Outdoors

Hunting permits will be issued at the end of the Urban Deer Hunt Rules and Regulations class, provided all items have been completed.
