North Liberty holds BBQ and Blues festival

NORTH LIBERTY (KWWL) - Music that originated in the Deep South made its way to eastern Iowa yet again this year.

The eighth annual Blues and Barbecue fest in North Liberty kicked off with a lot of free, family-fun activities, from food to fireworks, blues to barbecue.

"North Liberty's a big growing community, we've got a lot of families and this is a great event for families," said Nick Bergus, Committee Co-chair. "We have stuff for everybody, we've got kids activities we're tweaking, improving and adding to, and we've got great music."

This is the first year the event is held in July, organizers say it's normally held around memorial day weekend.

Food vendors and craft brewers from around Iowa lined Centennial Park.

They expect 5,000-10,000 people to attend this year.
