Heavy rainfall, flash flooding in Johnson County

Posted: Updated:
JOHNSON COUNTY (KWWL) -

Storms swept through much of eastern Iowa dropping several inches of rainfall Saturday.

Johnson County is already dealing with high waters and now they're dealing with additional flash flooding, potentially aggravating flooding on the Iowa River.

Johnson County emergency managers have been keeping a close eye on the Iowa River.

Hayden Fry Way in Coralville had standing water making it difficult for cars to pass.

Johnson County emergency managers say with so much rain falling in so little time, creek flooding is a concern throughout the entire county.

They also warn that a sudden flood in certain areas is possible, and to always stay away from low lying areas.

Heavy rains and flooding can also cause trees to be uprooted easier.
