CHARLES CITY, Iowa (AP) - Charles City police are looking for a dognapper.

The Mason City Globe Gazette reports (http://bit.ly/1oR6P34 ) that a young adult male pit bull mix named Pete was taken from the PAWS Humane Society shelter sometime during the night of July 5.

Shelter manager Julie Taylor says the dog was in a kennel with an outdoor run. Someone broke the padlock on the run.

The light brown brindle, white chested dog had been at the shelter since April. Taylor says he was malnourished when he came to the shelter.

The dog has scarring on his face and muzzle. A reward is being offered for his safe return.

Anyone with information on Pete's whereabouts is asked to call the shelter at 641-257-0766 or police at 641-228-3366.
