Meteorologist injured in fireworks accident out of surgery

IOWA CITY (KWWL) -

The man involved in a fireworks accident in Iowa City last weekend had surgery to remove his eye.

Detroit's WXYZ meteorologist Dave Rexroth is in good spirits after his surgery Wednesday, according to WXYZ's website.

Rexroth was injured while vacationing in Iowa City on July 4. He will now begin the process to get a prosthetic eye and expects to fully recover by September.
