Plant workshop on comfrey takes root in Iowa City

Posted: Updated:
IOWA CITY (KWWL) -

Residents in Iowa City will have a chance to learn about the weed-suppressing comfrey plant on July 14.

Experts call the plant a landscape work horse, providing mulch, fertilizing and attracting beneficial insects.

Backyard Abundance will host a call about the plant on Monday from 6:30 to 7:30 p.m. at the Wetherby Park Edible Forest on 2400 Taylor Dr. in Iowa City.

The class is free and open to everyone. Attendees will receive rootlets of the plant.
