Iowa City Fire Department announces promotions, new hires

IOWA CITY (KWWL) -

Iowa City Fire Chief John Grier has announced promotions and hiring of firefighters.

According to a press release, Greg Tinnes, an 18-year veteran of the Iowa City Fire Department, was promoted to battalion chief. He previously served as captain.

The release also states Tina Humston, a 13-year veteran of the Iowa City Fire Department, has been promoted to the rank of captain. She previously served five years as lieutenant.

And Chris Buckman, a 15-year veteran of the Iowa City Fire Department, was promoted to the rank of lieutenant. Lt. Buckman previously served 15 years as a firefighter. 

Additionally, three firefighters have been hired and completed six weeks of orientation: Sam Brown, Thomas Hartshorn and Matthew Boerjan.
