New grocery store in Denver celebrates grand opening

Posted: Updated:
DENVER (KWWL) - You can't miss the new grocery store in Denver. Brothers Market is located right off Highway 63. It opened June 13th, but is celebrating its grand opening on Friday, July 11th and Saturday, July 12th. The fills the void left when Bender's Foods closed earlier this year.

"The old grocery store closed, and this one has a whole new vibrancy to it that we just love," said shopper Jane Teetzen.

Jane Teetzen and her grand kids are already "regulars" at the store.

"My husband comes everyday to get fresh fruit. Their produce is outstanding, and I come in about three times a week," said Teetzen.

Kathy Simon is the operations manager for Brothers Market and helps get all the new stores up and running.

"The brothers met with some people from the community, and they knew it would be a nice community to come into," said Kathy Simon.

Customers said it's great to have a grocery store in town because if you only need one item, you don't have to drive to Waterloo or Waverly.

"Especially the older people in town who don't necessarily have the means to travel back and forth to the bigger towns. It's just absolutely convenient for people in town to have somewhere local they can shop," said Lanie Spence.

The store's 22 employees hope people shop locally so the store can stay open.

As part of the grand opening, former NFL players and co-owner Jared DeVries will be signing autographs. You can also sign up to win prizes like a grill and television.
