African American Museum director resigns

CEDAR RAPIDS (KWWL) -

The African American Museum of Iowa announced the resignation of its Executive Director Michael Kates.

The African American Museum is a nonprofit organization.

Rudy Simms, chairman of the board of directors of the Museum, expressed his gratitude for Kates' service.

"We appreciate Michael's passion for preserving African American heritage and wish him well as he seeks opportunities in the Kansas City area," he said.

The museum announced Thomas Moore as its interim Executive Director.
