Posted: Updated:

Approximately 90 plaques and American flags on display at the Iowa Juvenile Home will be returned to donors, according to the Iowa Department of Human Services.

DHS spokesperson Amy Lorentzen McCoy said many of the flags and plaques will be returned to the individuals who donated them to the state for display at the Iowa Juvenile Home.

She said others will be donated to the Toledo - American Legion Post 72, where they can be displayed for the community.

McCoy said if someone donated a plaque or flag and want it returned, he/she should contact Lynette Kingery at DHS: (515) 725-2238 or lkinger@dhs.state.ia.us

She said Duane Bossman, who has helped with the "Avenue of the Flags" display, is also assisting with return efforts.

According to McCoy, individuals must request their plaque or flag by July 29. Otherwise the items will be donated to the local legion.

She said distribution of flags and plaques will begin next week.
