FREDERICKSBURG (KWWL) -

Authorities say a man was drunk when he punched a Chickasaw County deputy in the face Monday morning.

The Chickasaw County Sheriff's Office was investigating a crash in Fredericksburg around 11:00 a.m. Monday, and gave a breath test to the driver involved, 28-year-old Benjamin Duitscher.

The sheriff's office says the deputy knocked Duitscher to the ground and tased him after Duitscher hit him, but Duitscher was able to run away.

Authorities were able to find and arrest Benjamin Duitscher a few hours later.
He is charged with unsafe turning, driving while license revoked for previous OWI, assault on a peace officer with intent to seriously injure, interference with official acts, and OWI 3rd or subsequent offense.

The deputy involved was treated for injuries to his face, neck and hand.
