Joblinske-Schenck commits to Iowa

Posted: Updated:
WATERLOO (KWWL) -

Eric Joblinske-Schenck will play baseball at Iowa next season.

The Kirkwood Community College sophomore and Dike-New Hartford alumni had originally committed to continue his career at Texas A&M, but had a change of heart the past few weeks. He also says his relationship with coach Rick Heller, who just completed his first season at Iowa, helped him make the decision.

"I knew him obviously when he was at the University of Northern Iowa and did his camps," said Joblinske-Schenck, "He actually lived in Dike where I went, Dike-New Hartford, so I knew him pretty well, and I felt we had a pretty good relationship going in. So, I'm really excited for the opportunity."

He's currently playing for the Mankato Moondogs of the Northwoods League, hitting .277 with 2 home runs this season.
