Jackson Co. Jail escapee back in custody after chase

Posted: Updated:
MAQUOKETA (KWWL) -

An escapee from a county jail last month had his luck run out Saturday night.

Jackson County deputies say 32-year-old Brandon Bodenhofer of Baldwin escaped from the jail June 16 after returning from a court appearance.

They say Saturday night just before 7 p.m. a deputy saw him driving a stolen car on the south side of Maquoketa.

That's when a chase began.

They say Bodenhofer reached high speeds as he headed south of Maquoketa on Main Street.

They say nearly two miles later, he drove into a ditch and hit a barbed wire fence near 1st Street at the Jackson-Clinton County line.

Deputies were then able to take him into custody.

He faces several new charges and is once again in the Jackson County Jail.
