JOHNSON COUNTY (KWWL) - The Grant Wood Chapter office at 6300 Rockwell Dr. NE in Cedar Rapids will be open on Friday, July 4 from 8:30 a.m. - 3:00 p.m. and again on Saturday from 8:00 a.m. - 12:00 a.m. for those who need to pick up clean-up kits; the Harding Middle School emergency shelter in Cedar Rapids closed on Thursday at noon.

The American Red Cross emergency shelter is still open for those in Johnson County looking for a safe place to stay; the shelter is located at Building A on the Johnson County Fairgrounds at 4265 Oak Crest Hill Rd. SE in Iowa City.

Iowa City Animal Services say pets can be brought to the Iowa City emergency pet shelter at 4852 Sand Road.

The Red Cross handed out more than 115 kits at the Cedar Rapids office by Thursday afternoon.

On July 4, volunteers with the Red Cross will continue reaching out to Cedar Rapids families in affected neighborhoods to help recovery efforts.

The Red Cross reminds anyone evacuating to bring these these essential items: prescriptions and emergency medications; foods for unusual dietary requirements; identification and important personal documents; extra clothing, pillows, blankets, hygiene supplies and comfort items; supplies for children and infants; and special items for family members who are elderly or disabled.
