Family: "He was more than the kid who died in a sewer."

CEDAR RAPIDS (KWWL) - The family of Logan Blake, 17 of Cedar Rapids, is mourning his death after first responders found his body in Cedar Lake on Tuesday.

Authorities believe Blake was playing frisbee with friends Monday evening near Arthur Elementary when he and his friend were swept away in a storm drain.

His father, Mark Blake of Cedar Rapids, told KWWL the headlines about his son are frustrating.

"I want people to remember him for who he is, not the kid who died in a sewer," he said.

He said the way his son made headlines is "unbearable."

"That's not who Logan Blake is...Logan Blake was an awesome young man who was going to become a great man and lived a very great life and it was intentional. You just don't see that in a young man," he said.

Blake said his son was adventurous, enjoyed working at a local retirement home and thought about becoming a personal trainer after he graduated next year.

"He has touched so many people, and he is going to be remembered by so many people. The things he did in ths short time he was here will impact a lot of people in a very positive way," he said.
