Where to take storm debris

Posted: Updated:
CEDAR FALLS (KWWL) - Cities across eastern Iowa are implementing clean-up plans following severe thunderstorms that ripped through the area Monday.

The Cedar Falls Public Works Department opened the season compost facility on East Main Street and citizens are asked to only bring debris from storm damage.

The facility will be open from 7 a.m. to 6 p.m. Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday.

City crews in North Liberty will collect fallen branches placed along the curb through Thursday. The branches should be no longer than five feet.

In Cedar Rapids, residents can access the Solid Waste and Recycling Division, which collects a variety of large materials at the curb for a separate fee, by calling 319-286-5897 at least one day before collection.

Residents can also utilize the Cedar Rapids A Street Facility, currently only accessibly by using the back entrance off C Street SW, and the Marion County Home Road Facility.
