UPDATE: Name released of man killed in Fairfax

FAIRFAX (KWWL) - The Linn County Sheriff's Office has released the name of the man who died when a building in Fairfax collapsed on him during Monday's severe storms.

David Lee Fry, 57, of Cedar Rapids died as a result of injuries received when the building collapsed.

Cedric Brownfield, 62, was injured in the same incident.

An investigation is ongoing.


A second man was injured when a building collapsed in the midst of severe weather on Monday.

One man died when the Intermec Technologies building collapsed on West Cemetery Road in Fairfax. The man's name has not been released. 

Linn County Sheriff Brian Gardner says another man was hurt, but was able to get out.  There's no word on his condition.


A Cedar Rapids man is dead after Monday afternoon's severe storms caused the Fairfax building he was in to collapse on top of him.

Linn County Sheriff Brian Gardner says the building is located on West Cemetery Road in Fairfax.

The man's body was discovered after storms passed through the area. His name is not being released at this time.

Gardner said there have been no other reports of injuries due to weather in the county.
