Cedar Rapids: all available fire crews responding to cars stuck in water

Posted: Updated:
CEDAR RAPIDS (KWWL) -

The Cedar Rapids Fire Department is responding to a number of calls all across the city after seeing 4-6 inches of rain in less than 2 hours.

Cars are stuck in water and debris is causing concerns across the city.

The Fire Department says these calls are coming in from all over the city. All available units are out and responding as quickly as they can but they do say there is a backlog due to the high number of calls.

We found a number of cars stuck in the Wellington Heights neighborhood. People who live there tell us they saw emergency vehicles get stuck.

Others stopped our crews in the street to warn us of sinkholes appearing on the NW side.

Employees at the Johnson Ave Hy-Vee tell us the store is flooded.
