WATERLOO (KWWL) - A Cedar Falls woman has been acquitted of murder charges in the 2013 stabbing of her boyfriend Keon Dale.

A judge ruled Kristie Clark-Richardson acted in self defense when she stabbed Dale to death outside his Waterloo apartment on Quincy Street in March of 2013.

Police told KWWL Clark-Richardson left the jail Friday evening.

KWWL was unable to track down Clark-Richardson.

Family members and friends of Dale told KWWL on Saturday that the two didn't have the best relationship.

Robert Smith still has a hard time understanding that no one will be held responsible for his cousin's death.

Smith said his cousin died on his front porch.

"I don't think about it every day. I try not to. But I have to go up and down these same steps everyday where he died, and quite awhile his blood was on my steps," said Smith.

While the memories of what happened on his porch are hard to erase, Smith said he forgives the woman who stabbed her cousin.

"The only way to get on is to forgive her...I know that's what God would have me to do so that's what I'm going to do," he said.
