KWWL Update: Man helps get flags back to donors

Posted: Updated:
TOLEDO (KWWL) -  More than 100 American flags and custom plaques used to decorate the campus of the Iowa Juvenile Home in Toledo over the 4th of July.

All of them were purchased by donors in memory or honor of a loved one or veteran.

Since the home closed, however, people haven't been able to track down the flags because officials with the State of Iowa won't tell them where they are.

Now, the former organizer of the 20 year-old tradition, Duane Bossman, said the state has given him the green light to help people get them back.

Bossman said he's in charge of making a list of donors.

If you have a flag or plaque once displayed at the Iowa Juvenile Home in its "Avenue of the Flags" celebration and you'd like it back, you are asked to contact Bossman at (641) 751-7730.

Bossman said he'll pass the list along to state officials so people can get them back, and that state officials will decide where to put the unclaimed flags and plaques.
