CENTRAL CITY (KWWL) -

A Cedar Rapids man was transported to Mercy Hospital after rear-ending a Kia Sorento at the intersection of Highway 13 and Barber Street in Central City around 12:30 p.m. Saturday.

Alex Lepowsky, 33, was wearing a helmet and suffered only minor, non-life threatening injuries, according to the Linn County Sheriff's Office.

Kristina Shaffer, 30, of Greeley was driving the Sorento and stopped behind two other vehicles that were waiting to make a left turn on Barber Street.

Lepowsky then lost control of his motorcycle after rear-ending the Sorento and ended up on the west shoulder of Highway 13.

Shaffer was the only occupant in her vehicle, was wearing a seatbelt and was not injured.

The incident remains under investigation by the Linn County Sheriff's Office with charges pending.
