Missing woman's family thanks social media for helping find loved one

WATERLOO (KWWL) - Shyieta Anderson didn't know where her mother, Tammie Brockman, was for more than 24 hours, from Monday afternoon until Tuesday evening.

Brockman was found at 7 p.m. Tuesday.

"I'm very happy. I want to hug you because I'm that happy you know what I'm saying," said Anderson.

Throughout that time, Anderson says her family watched people comment on social media posting where they saw her last. She says that helped them direct their search and know she was alright.

"We appreciate it because she didn't know anybody here. She didn't know anything. She barley know her way around and then ...you know that just really helped that the public reached out and helped us out."

Anderson says, adding to the anxiety, Brockman suffers from paranoid schizophrenia.

"A whole lot. Like I want to cry right now because it had me, you know, shook up so bad," said Anderson.

Brockman walked for miles and even spent the night at a hotel. Eventually, police were tipped off that she was at the McDonalds in Elk Run Heights.
