One injured in rollover accident

Posted: Updated:

One person was taken to the hospital late Tuesday night following a rollover accident in Black Hawk County on I-380.

Black Hawk County Sheriff Deputies were called to the area of mile marker 56 just after 11:30 Tuesday night and found the car flipped over in the west ditch on the side of I-380.

Officers determined that 21-year-old Kelsey Schroeder of Cedar Rapids was traveling south on I-380 when she swerved to avoid a deer carcass in the road and lost control of the vehicle, leading it to flip over. Both Schroeder and her passenger were able to free themselves from the car. The passenger was transported to Covenant Medical Center by ambulance, and is expected to survive.
